Etches the story of the museum at Kimmeridge

Steve Etches, a local plumber and inhabitant of Kimmeridge started collecting fossils at a very  young age. The Kimmeridge coast has a veritable plethora of fossils. After 40 years Steve had a massive collection which he wanted to enable more people to see. So the Etches museum was built - well it wasn't quite that simple but you get my drift!

Steve explains his first fossil hunt in a short video clip Here.

The Etches story takes becomes more widely known,as soon as David Attenborough and the BBC team become interested in filming the sea monster excavation. The Sea Rex Pliosaur was rescued with the help of many notable locals using their skills, notably Rob Vearncombe the local dairy farmer.

Well worth a visit to Etches Museum
